Schumacher and Graves Break School Records on Third Evening of the CCSA Championships

ATHENS, GA. – Gardner-Webb women's swimming saw record breaking performances from sophomore London Schumacher and senior Giorgie Graves to highlight the Runnin' Bulldogs night three at the 2016 CCSA Championships.
Schumacher in the very first event of the evening was victorious in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.38, which is a new School Record by six-tenths of a second and obtained a NCAA "B" Cut time for the sophomore.
Graves swam to a new School Record as well while also accruing a NCAA "B" Cut time in the 100 Fly Final timing in at 53.94 and earning a second-place podium finish in the event for the senior and the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Gardner-Webb achieved another podium finish this evening as Lili Toth finished third overall for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the 100 Breast swimming a time of 1:02.46, another bulldog participating in the final was Whitney Peters who finished fifth from the time of 1:03.29.
In the lone relay of the day the 400 Medley Team of Lili Toth, Whitney Peters, Giorgie Graves, and anchor Kelsey Williams earned a podium third-place finish for the Runnin' Bulldogs giving the team four podium appearances this evening.
Freshman Carol Zangla also swam in the 400 IM Final this evening to a time of 4:28.61 good enough for fifth-place, while fellow freshman Miranda Johns finished seventh in the Final with a time of 4:31.18.
Swimming in the B-Final of the women's 400 IM was Mackenzie Ropka who claimed third-place in the event swimming a time of 4:30.53.
Junior Adel Kiss was the lone Runnin' Bulldog in the B-Final for the 100 Fly and she won the heat for GWU with a time of 56.35, while Senior Cristina Clayton swam off in the C-Final of the 100 Fly this evening going a time of 58.04 to take the seventh-place spot in the heat.
Freshman Anna Banick was the lone GWU swimmer in the B-Final of the 100 Breast as she went 1:05.37 in the event placing fourth for the heat.
The only Gardner-Webb swimmer in the 100 Back B-Final was Senior Taylor Schwartz who finished in eighth-place in the heat with a time of 58.82.
Fellow senior Caroline Andrews (57.77) and April Niccolai (59.13) swam in the 100 Back C-Final earning second and fifth-place respectively.
The Runnin' Bulldogs had two swimmers in the C-Final of the 200 Free event as Schwartz (1:54.01) earned second place and freshman Morgan Vanderschaaf (1:54.44) placed just behind her in third place.
The Gardner-Webb women's swim team will get right back to it tomorrow morning as preliminaries for the final day of the Championships start off at 10 a.m. with finals beginning at 6:00 p.m.
