HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb fell, 3-0, at High Point Tuesday night in Big South Conference volleyball action, with the Panthers capturing wins of 25-9, 25-11, and 25-18 at the Millis Center.
Gardner-Webb falls to 7-15 overall and 1-8 in Big South play, while High Point improves to 16-6 overall and 9-0 in league action. HPU is the only Big South team that is undefeated in conference play, with all other teams having at least two or more losses.
The Runnin' Bulldogs hit -.054 for the match with 18 kills, while the Panthers attacked at a .298 clip with 39 kills on the evening.
Joy Rhodes led the Gardner-Webb attack, collecting six kills on 20 swings, hitting at a .150 rate.
Keira Moore and
Nicole Celarek followed, as each had four kills on the evening.
Alexandria Roycraft led GWU with two solo blocks and one block assist.
Amanda Sahm led the team with 11 assists, while
Emma Milstead tallied a team-high 11 digs.
High Point was led offensively by Katie Tylman, who had 10 kills on 14 attempts. Molly Livingston had three blocks to lead the Panthers, while Carly Jimenez had a match-high 17 assists and Abby Bottomley had a match-high 27 digs.
Gardner-Webb returns home for its next match, hosting Campbell on Friday, October 20 in Paul Porter Arena. The match is set for at 7:00 pm start time.
