BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. –
Joy Rhodes had a team-high 10 kills Friday evening, but the Gardner-Webb volleyball team would fall to the visiting Campbell Fighting Camels in straight sets inside Paul Porter Arena.
With the loss, Gardner-Webb falls to 7-16 overall and 1-9 in Big South Conference play. The Runnin' Bulldogs have lost eight straight matches, with their last win taking place on September 26 in a 3-2 win over UNC Asheville. Campbell improves to 18-8 on the year and 5-4 in league action.
Gardner-Webb had 32 total kills on the evening, attacking at a .104 clip, while Campbell had 38 kills with a .220 hitting percentage.
Rhodes led the 'Dogs on the attack, collecting 10 smashes on 30 swings. She was followed by
Hannah Lancaster, who had eight kills on 21 attempts on the evening.
Hannah Driscoll had four blocks to lead GWU, while
Emma Milstead led the team with 11 digs and
Amanda Sahm had a team-high 26 assists.
Campbell had two attackers reach double-digits, as Madison Linxwiler had 12 kills on 20 attempts and Jessica Stocking had 10 smashes on 34 swings.
Linxwiler also had four blocks to lead the Camels, while Summer Schuitema had a match-high 29 assists, and Kayla Schanback collected a match-high 13 digs.
Gardner-Webb opens a four-match road swing next Friday evening, as the Runnin' Bulldogs return to action at Liberty. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start time and can be seen live on the Big South Network (
