
Runnin’ Bulldogs Set To Compete at Big South Cross Country Championships Saturday

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb's men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the 2017 Big South Conference Cross Country Championships, being run Saturday, October 28 in Lynchburg, Va.
The men's 8K race is set to begin at 10:30 am, with the women's 5K race following at 11:30 am.
Keaton Poole has consistently been one of the top performers for the men's squad throughout the season. The redshirt junior opened the season by setting a new personal-record in the 5K at the WCU Cross Country Festival, timing in at 16:08.01. He also set a new PR in the four-mile run at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational, clocking in at 21:43.65, and led the team at the Upstate Invitational, timing in at 27:13.9 in the 8K event.
Mitchell Brown has also been one of the men's team's top runners, finishing the 6K course at the Adidas XC Challenge with a time of 20:09.2 to lead the team. He also led the team at the Queen City Invitational, completing the 8K course with a personal-best time of 26:01.17. That time was the fifth fastest 8K time in GWU history.
Gabby Cortese has paced the women's team in each event this season, opening the year by setting a new personal record in the two mile run at the WCU Cross Country Festival, clocking in at 12:00.44. That time was also the fastest time in Gardner-Webb history at that distance.
