November 21, 2017 | Football
CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb defenders Kenyatta Dunbar and Josh Ramseur each earned All-Big South Conference Football honors on Tuesday, as selected by the league's head coaches and media.
Dunbar (Edgefield, S.C. / Strom Thurmond HS) was named first-team All-Big South Conference and Ramseur (Kingstown, N.C. / Burns HS) earned second-team All-Big South Conference honors.
Left tackle Will Millikan was named to the Big South's annual All-Academic Team.
Dunbar played inside linebacker at a high level for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2017, totaling 69 stops and ranking second in the Big South Conference with 13.5 tackles for loss (minus-64 yards). The 5-foot-11, 214-pound senior added four sacks and was at his best early in the season before a rash of injuries over the final six weeks.
Dunbar posted a season-high 10 stops at No. 25 North Carolina Central on October 14 and had eight hits and 4.0 tackles for loss at FBS Wyoming on September 9. He made three tackles for loss in consecutive games vs. Western Carolina (9/16) and No. 9 Wofford (9/23).
Ramseur returned to the starting lineup in 2017 after missing the final month of last season with an injury. He was very effective, finishing with a career-high 50 total tackles at his nose guard spot – anchoring the front seven in Gardner-Webb's 3-4 scheme.
Ramseur had a season-high nine stops at No. 9 Wofford (9/23) and Kennesaw State (10/21), playing well against both triple option squads. He was also impactful vs. Liberty, collecting eight tackles and a sack against the FBS-bound Flames.
Millikan started all 11 games at left tackle for the Runnin' Bulldogs again in 2017, and has made 30 consecutive starts since 2015 at the position. The 2016 All-Big South Conference selection has compiled a 3.68 cumulative GPA in Business Administration during his time in the classroom, and was earlier named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District III football team.
