Men's Basketball Returns Home To Host Toccoa Falls Wednesday Morning At 11:00

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb men's basketball returns home for its final non-conference game of the season Wednesday morning, hosting Toccoa Falls at 11:00 am in Paul Porter Arena.
The game is part of Education Day festivities, which will allow more than 1,000 area elementary school kids a chance to take in a college basketball game.
Gardner-Webb (4-8) is coming off a tight road win at Hampton, which saw GWU hold off the Pirates for an 80-79 win. David Efianayi scored four of his game-high 19 points in the final two minutes in that game and was one of five Runnin' Bulldogs to score in double figures.
Efianayi leads Gardner-Webb in scoring so far this season, breaking out to the tune of 17.0 points per game through 12 starts. The Orlando, Fla., junior has made 45-of-58 free throws (77.6 percent), and has been adept at getting to the rim – either drawing a foul or finishing in close.
Forward DJ Laster (15.2 ppg) and guard Liam O'Reilly (12.4 ppg) have also picked up their scoring production from a year ago, with each shooting better than 40 percent from long range.
Gardner-Webb got a lift on Sunday from veteran wing Jamaal Robateau, who scored 10 points off the bench in his best performance of the 2017-2018 season. The Sunshine Coast, Australia, senior is finally back at full speed after missing five games with an injury.
Point guard Christian Turner also had a breakthrough game at Hampton, scoring a career-high 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting against the Pirates. He added six assists and two steals in 34 minutes of action.
Gardner-Webb will meet Toccoa Falls (0-8) for the fourth-straight season on Wednesday morning. GWU is 3-0 in the previous meetings, averaging a strong 109.3 points per game in those wins. GWU took a 103-53 win over Toccoa Falls last November 22.
Following Wednesday's game, Gardner-Webb will enjoy a nine-day Christmas break before getting back on the court to host Liberty in the Big South Conference opener for both teams. That game is set for Saturday afternoon, December 30, at 4:30 PM.
