CLINTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped a 2-1 decision to Presbyterian in ten innings to wrap up the weekend series on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Hose (23-23, 11-7) scored the walk-off run on a fielding error by Gardner-Webb (22-21, 9-9 Big South) reliever Jarrett Thompson with no outs in the bottom of the tenth inning after a bunt single by T.J. Richardson.

Presbyterian got runners on base to start the frame after Glen Casaceli was hit by a pitch from Wil Sellers, which was followed by a base hit by Brett Auckland to put runners on first and second.

Thompson would then replace Sellers, who allowed the bunt single to Richardson on his only pitch of the day. 

Presbyterian would scratch first, scoring in the bottom of the second inning on solo home run to left field by Connor Slagill. 

Gardner-Webb would tie the game in the top of the fourth.  Chandler Redmond and Gage Parham would hit back-to-back singles with one out, which was followed by Mason Fox reaching after being hit by a pitch to load the bases. 

Chris Clary would draw a walk from PC pitcher Hayden Deal to drive in Redmond to tie the game.

The Blue Hose threatened in the seventh, loading the bases on three walks, but Sellers was to get Guy Casaceli ground out to end the frame.

Collin Thacker would double to right field in the eighth, followed by a walk by Danny Sullivan and a single through the right side by Redmond to load the bases with one out, but the Runnin' Bulldogs would be unable to capitalize as PC reliever Eric Miles would record two quick outs to get out of the jam.

Sellers (3-3) took the loss for Gardner-Webb, working 2.1 innings in relief.  Starter Landon Mitchell was efficient in the start, lasting 6.1 innings, allowing just one run one three hits while fanning three batters.

The Runnin' Bulldogs tallied nine base hits, with Redmond (3-for-4, run) and Thacker (2-for-5, 2B) each collecting multiple base knocks.

With two hits today, Thacker now has 200 base hits for his career at Gardner-Webb.  The senior from Wilmington, N.C. ranks tenth all-time in base hits at GWU.

Eric Miles (5-0) earned the win for Presbyterian, tossing the final 3.0 innings, allowing no runs on four base hits while recording three strikeouts.  Starter Hayden Deal lasted 7.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits with eight strikeouts.

PC had a total of five base hits on the afternoon, with Richardson (2-for-4) leading that effort. 

Gardner-Webb will return to action this Wednesday evening at Furman at 6:00 pm.
