DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs dropped their season opener tonight vs. Davidson at Alumni Soccer Stadium. While the game remained scoreless at half, the Wildcats made a strong offensive push in the second half.

Mike Varga expressed that tonight's outcome was a "disappointing way to start the season", continuing "we never really found our rhythm tonight."

The Wildcats tallied their first goal as Cameron France found the back of the net at the 46:06 mark. Three other Wildcats: Michele Manceaux, Allison Gray, and Mia Hodges would go on to score as well. Davidson recorded eight shots on goal, with 15 shots in the match, while Gardner-Webb countered with five shots, and one shot on goal.

Five Gardner-Webb players each recorded a shot in the match, while
Jessica Ferguson recorded the lone shot on goal tonight for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Keeper,
Keely Brown made four saves tonight in goal, while facing 15 shots. Freshman,Â
Tomke Zeeh also saw time in goal tonight as she played the remaining 10 minutes of the match.

"We will get better. I have a lot of belief in this group and I know we will bounce back and play much better on Sunday," Varga continued.

Gardner-Webb returns to action as they travel to Georgia Southern this Sunday, Aug. 20 for their match against the Eagles at 1:00 PM.Â
