DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's tennis squad took its first road trip of the 2018 spring season to take on the Davidson Wildcats and fell, 7-0.
The Runnin' Bulldogs fall to 0-2 with the loss, while the Wildcats earned their first victory of the year to even their record at 1-1.
In doubles play, Davidson swept all three matches to secure the doubles point, although GWU's
Sandra Bolstad and
Miljana Ristic put up a fight at No. 1 doubles before falling by a 7-5 score.
In singles action, Ristic and
Valentine Limauge both lost in tiebreakers at No. 4 and 5 singles respectively. Ristic, a sophomore from Nis, Serbia dropped her first set 7-6 and forced a tiebreaker in the second set but fell 6-3 (7-3). Â To date, Ristic has played two matches in the No. 4 position with a 1-1 record, winning her match in the season opener against College of Charleston.
Limauge, the only freshman on the Gardner-Webb roster this season, lost to Davidson's Samantha Armas in the first set, 6-0, but showed resiliency in set two despite falling 7-6 (10-8).

Jim Corn's Runnin' Bulldogs will return home to Boiling Springs for their next match as Limestone College will visit the GWU campus on Saturday, February 10 for a 1 p.m. match. Â
