BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting UNC Asheville in Big South Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon inside Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb (7-18, 1-11 Big South) lost all three sets to UNC Asheville (10-11, 5-6 Big South) by scores of 25-18, 25-19, and 25-18.
GWU had 32 kills on 105 attempts for a .095 hitting percentage, while Asheville collected 34 kills on 102 swings for a .186 clip.
Nichole Ford and
Hannah Lancaster each had seven kills to lead the Runnin' Bulldog attack, while
Amanda Sahm provided a team-high 21 assists.
Charissa Coleman led Gardner-Webb in digs with 10, while
Alexandria Roycraft paced the GWU blocking effort with three total blocks.
Cara Guthrie had a match-high 12 kills to lead UNC Asheville, while Grace Volk provided a match-best 30 assists.
Guthrie also led UNC Asheville in digs with 14, while Julia Borges collected a match-high six total blocks.
Gardner-Webb opens a three-match road swing on Friday, November 2 at Presbyterian. The match is slated for a 6:00 pm start time with live coverage on ESPN+.
