CLINTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb had three attackers with ten or more kills, yet the Runnin' Bulldogs would go on to drop a four-set decision at Presbyterian in Big South Conference volleyball action Friday evening.
Gardner-Webb (7-19, 1-12 Big South) would drop the opening two sets to Presbyterian (8-16, 5-8 Big South) by scores of 25-18 and 25-21 before bouncing back to take set three, 25-21. The Blue House would answer by taking the fourth set, 26-24, to seal the overall match win.
The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 48 kills on 136 attempts for a .199 hitting percentage. The Blue Hose had 51 kills on 131 swings for a .183 hitting percentage.
Hannah Lancaster paced the GWU attack, collecting 12 kills on 32 attempts, followed by
Nichole Ford with 11 kills and
Molly Johnston with 10.
Amanda Sahm provided a match-best 33 assists.
Charissa Coleman led the 'Dogs with a match-high 15 digs, while Elizabeth Griffth led all blockers with seven total blocks on the evening.
Presbyterian was led offensively by Lauren Talbert with 14 kills, followed by Erin Cook, who had 10 smashes. Jaclyn Brewington led the Blue Hose with 27 assists.
Erin Eulitz led PC in digs with 13, while Sydney De Jong had five blocks to lead the team.
Gardner-Webb returns to action tomorrow at 4:00 pm at Charleston Southern. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
