Swimming Completes Day Two of Fall Frenzy Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb swimming wrapped up the second day of the Sheraton/Le Meriden Fall Frenzy Invitational, taking place at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center on Saturday.
 
In the women's 200-yard medley relay, Charity Bennett, Whitney Peters, Tessa Walsh, and Jessi Snover placed 12th with a time of 1:50.47
 
The grouping of Tim Bennett, Jordan Mintz, Cullen Fields, and Brady Fields placed fifth overall in the men's 200-yard medley relay, timing in at 1:33.89.  The team of John O'Connell, Brendan Teeters, Seggio Bernardina, and Kevin Plewniak finished in 12th with a time of 1:36.63.
 
Mary Traylor led GWU in the women's 400-yard IM, clocking in at 4:34.54 to take home a sixth-place result.  Lucas Spencer placed 20th at 4:35.23, while Carol Zangla finished 23rd at 4:39.13.
 
In the men's 400-yard IM, Christian Jann timed in at 4:07.59 to finish 14th overall.
 
Cullen Fields paced the 'Dogs in the men's 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 51.49 seconds to earn an 18th place finish.  John O'Connell placed 20th with a time of 51.93 seconds, followed by Brady Fields in 21st at 52.00 seconds and Brendan Teeters in 22nd at 52.44 seconds.
 
In the men's 200-yard freestyle, Chase Mattingly placed 15th, timing in at 1:46.02.  Andrew Mintz placed 23rd overall at 1:45.81.
 
Whitney Peters led GWU in the women's 100-yard breaststroke, finishing 13th overall with a time of 1:07.78.  Anna Banick took home a 19th place result at 1:08.21.
 
In the men's 100-yard breaststroke, Jordan Mintz placed 12th overall, clocking in at 58.16 seconds.  Brendan Teeters placed 21st with a time of 59.91 seconds.
 
In the women's 100-yard backstroke, Spencer Lucas finished 24th at 1:00.66.
 
Tim Bennett placed 11th in the men's 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 51.62 seconds.  Brady Fields took home a 21st place result, timing in at 52.96 seconds.
 
The team of Morgan VanderSchaaf, Spencer Lucas, Carol Zangla, and Jennifer Jackson led GWU in the women's 800-yard freestyle relay, timing in at 7:56.26.  The team of Miranda Johns, Blake Broullire, Mary Traylor, and Tessa Walsh placed 13th at 7:57.23.
 
In the men's 800-yard freestyle relay, the grouping of Chase Mattingly, Christian Jann, Andrew Mintz, and Peter Wakeley took home a seventh-place finish, clocking in at 7:01.14.  The team of Will Anderson, Joshua Clarke, Cullen Fields, and Ethan Long placed 14th at 7:13.71.
 
Day three of the three-day event continues Sunday with prelims at 10:00 am, with the finals taking place at 5:00 pm.
