Gardner-Webb SAAC Hosts 4th Annual Webbys Awards Wednesday Night

BOILING SPRINGS – The Gardner-Webb Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its 4th Annual "Webbys" Awards Show Wednesday night in Tucker Student Center.

Complete with a red carpet, Wednesday night's event showcased Gardner-Webb's best and brightest from this past athletics year in several categories.

Senior Jake Kennedy served as emcee, and was presented with the 2018 Mike Roebuck Award as the final award of the evening. The Mt. Ulla, N.C., native was a four-year letterwinner on the men's golf squad, as well as serving in a wide variety of roles on and around campus and the community during his time in college – including the role in 2017-2018 as Student Body president.

The "Webby" Awards for 2018 were presented to:

Iron Bulldog Award - Baseball

Athletic Trainer of the Year - Joe Medel

Top Dawg Award - Nathaniel Moore

Caudill Award - Meredith Rowe

Female Rookie of the Year - Katie Prebble (Softball)

Male Rookie of the Year - Millen Hurrion (Tennis)

Coaching Staff of the Year - Track & Field (Brian Baker, Evan Brusich, Carson Sears)

Most Improved Team - Softball

Female Athlete of the Year - Katie Prebble (Softball)

Male Athlete of the Year - Tyler Marinelli (Wrestling)

Biggest Upset - Baseball's 1-0 win over North Carolina

Female Team of the Year - Swimming

Male Team of the Year - Baseball

Best Game - Men's Soccer's 6-5 win at No. 8 Furman

Female Best Career - Amanda Steinmuller (Lacrosse)

Male Best Career - Jordan Smith (Track & Field)
