Cross Country Opens 2018 Season at Carolina Challenge Saturday Morning

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's and women's cross country team opened the 2018 season Saturday morning, competing at the Carolina Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina.
Both teams competed in races at a distance of 5k.
Ezekiel Martin paced the men's squad, timing in at 17:50.50. Sam Hermanns finished at 20:34.30, followed by freshman Nathaniel Sayles at 20:38.30.
Amy Turlington turned in the fastest time on the women's side, crossing the finish line at 20:24.10, setting a new personal record. She was followed by Hannah Jones with a time of 20:48.70. Logan McGuirt clocked in at 21:49.20, and rounding out the field were newcomers Courtney Kanetzke and Faith Parandhamia at 22:39.80 and 22:47.40 respectively.
Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs is the Adidas XC Challenge on Friday, September 14 in Cary, N.C.
