Women's Golf Takes Sixth At 2018 GolfWeek Program Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Gardner-Webb newcomer Linnea Hofgren paced the women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the three-day 2018 GolfWeek Program Challenge to open the fall season.
Hofgren opened play with a round of 72 and finished the 54-hole Challenge in a tie for 16th individually. Hofgren fired a 220 over three days, helping GWU to a team score of 297 on Tuesday morning to move past a seventh-place tie between Bradley and South Dakota.
Veteran Allison Chandler pulled into a tie for 22nd with a team-best round of 71 on Tuesday. The junior carded five birdies, including three on the front nine, to finish the day at even par.
Returning letterwinners Morgan Laird (76-79-75-230) and Lindsay Koppel (78-76-76-230) each finished tied for 36th individually and senior Kristen Wong (81-78-78-237) finished the event tied for 56th.
Campbell finished as the team champion, followed by Old Dominion, Delaware, Jacksonville State and Presbyterian. GWU finished four strokes out of the top-five.
The tournament was held at the 5,904-yard (Par 71) Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
