BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. –
Nichole Ford set a new career high with 16 kills, yet Gardner-Webb was unable to stop the Charleston Southern attack as the Runnin' Bulldogs fell to the visiting Buccaneers in four sets in Big South Conference volleyball action Friday evening.
Gardner-Webb (5-10, 0-3 Big South) took the opening set by a 25-23 score, but would drop the following three sets to Charleston Southern (7-4, 2-1 Big South) by scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-14.
GWU had 43 kills on the evening on 173 attempts, including 37 errors, for a .035 attacking percentage. CSU tallied 48 kills on 138 swings, committing only 19 errors to attack at a .210 rate.
Ford led all attackers with 16 kills on 45 swings for a .178 attacking percentage.
Amanda Sahm dished out a team-best 34 assists.
Charissa Coleman led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 18 digs, followed by Ford with 12 and Sahm with 10.
Hannah Donaldson and
Alexandria Roycraft each led the team with four blocks.
The Buccaneers were led by both Addison Kaderli and Hannah Western, who each had 12 kills. Naiomi Rivera led the team with a match-high 37 assists.
Madison Martin led CSU with a match-high 25 digs, while Caitlyn Michalski led all blockers with six total blocks.
Gardner-Webb returns to action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Presbyterian at 4:00 pm inside Paul Porter Arena.
