Rally Falls Short As GWU Falls in Five Sets to Presbyterian Saturday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb would rally from a two-set deficit to force a decisive fifth set against Presbyterian, but the comeback effort would fall short as the visiting Blue Hose would take the final set in Big South Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.
 
Presbyterian (6-8, 4-0 Big South) would take the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15, but Gardner-Webb (5-11, 0-4 Big South) would answer, taking the next two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-21.  PC would take set five by a 15-12 score to claim the overall match win.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs had 47 kills on 133 attempts for a .150 attack percentage, while the Blue Hose had 58 smashes on 143 swings for a .245 attack rate.
 
Nichole Ford led the GWU attack for the second straight match, tallying 12 kills on 27 swings for a .259 attack percentage.  Amanda Sahm collected a match-high 39 assists to lead that effort.
 
Sahm and Charissa Coleman each had 13 digs to lead the 'Dogs, while Hannah Donaldson had two solo blocks and one block assist to lead the GWU blockers.
 
Sydney De Jong had a match-high 15 kills to lead Presbyterian, while Sierra Jones contributed with 31 assists.
 
Daley Gosnell collected a match-high 19 digs, while De Jong also led all blockers with two solo blocks and three block assists.
 
Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs is South Carolina State on Tuesday, October 2 at 6:00 pm inside Paul Porter Arena.  The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
