Swimming Returns To Action Saturday Afternoon Hosting Wingate

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's and women's swim teams return to action for the first time this semester, taking on visiting Wingate on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm at Bost Pool.
Saturday's meet will mark the first time the Runnin' Bulldogs have been in the pool since competing at the Fall Frenzy Invitational on November 16-18 in Charlotte, N.C.
Thus far this season, the men have posted 14 times that rank in the top-ten among Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) competitors, including the second-best time in the 50-meter backstroke of 23.54 seconds, posted by Brady Fields against BYU, Old Dominion, and Mount St. Mary's on October 27.
Chase Mattingly ranks in the top-ten in both the 1,000 and 1,650-meter freestyle, while Tim Bennett has top-ten times in the 50 and 100-meter backstroke, and Jordan Mintz is in the top-ten in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke.
The women's squad has seven top-ten times in the CCSA rankings, with Mary Traylor ranking in the top-ten in both the 200-meter butterfly and the 400-meter individual medley.
Wingate enters Saturday's meet with the women's team ranked seventh in the nation, while the men are ranked 16th according to the NCAA Division II coaches poll.
Action is set for a 1:00 pm start time from Bost Pool.
