CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Gardner-Webb wrapped up competition at the 2019 Southern Scuffle presented by Compound Sportswear, with 12 wrestlers competing at the annual two-day event.
 
Seeded fifth at 165 pounds, redshirt-senior Tyler Marinelli picked up decisions over CSU-Bakersfield's Jacob Thalin and Columbia's Laurence Kosoy on Tuesday morning before falling to Rider's Jesse Dellavecchia in the evening session.
 
Wednesday morning, Marinelli fell to Navy's Tanner Skidgel by a tight 2-0 margin.
 
Evan Schenk took home multiple wins at 157 pounds for the Runnin' Bulldogs, picking up three straight victories in the consolation rounds on Tuesday before dropping a 9-2 decision to Ohio's Nick Vestal.
 
Also earning wins in the consolation rounds on Tuesday were Kyle Homet at 174 pounds and Anthony Perrine at 197 pounds.  RJ Mosley also earned one victory on the day, competing unattached.
 
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Tuesday, January 8, opening Southern Conference action at Appalachian State.  The match is slated for at 7:00 pm start time.
