CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team fell in three sets at Charleston Southern in Big South Conference action Friday evening.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (2-17. 0-8 Big South) dropped all three sets to Charleston Southern (12-10, 4-3 Big South) by scores of 25-12, 25-23, and 25-16. The Runnin' Bulldogs had 34 kills on 98 attempts for a .092 attacking percentage, while the Buccaneers totaled 37 kills on 91 swings for a .352 attacking percentage.
Molly Johnston paced the GWU attack, collecting 12 kills on 23 attempts.
Madi Riggs provided a match-high 23 assists.
Charissa Coleman led the 'Dogs with 14 digs, while
Maya Jeffcoat-Troy,
Maria Emmick,
Alexandria Roycraft, and
Hannah Donaldson each had a block assist.
Charleston Southern was led offensively by Paige Reagor with nine kills, while Emilee Karelse had 15 assists to lead her team.
Skylar Blackmon led the Bucs with 11 digs, and Reagor had six total blocks to lead that effort.
Gardner-Webb returns to the court tomorrow afternoon at Presbyterian. First serve is slated for 4:00 pm.
