FAIRFAX, Va. –  The Gardner-Webb wrestling team claimed a pair of fourth-place finishes to highlight a busy Saturday afternoon at the 2019 Patriot Open, hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va.
 
RJ Mosley went 3-2 on the day at 165 pounds, starting his afternoon with a 11-4 decision over Columbia's Kyle Mosher.  He followed that with an 11-2 major decision win over American's Michael Lewis and a 7-2 decision over Jacob Curling of Old Dominion.  Mosley would fall to Army's Cael McCormick, 9-2 and drop the third-place match to Tyler Barnes of N.C. State by a 9-5 decision.
 
Roderick Davis also placed fourth at 197 pounds.  He opened the day with a narrow 3-1 decision over American's Abraham Correa-Mendina and followed that with a 6-1 decision over Santino Morina of Old Dominion.  Davis would drop his next bout, a 10-0 major decision, to Army's J.T. Brown and would fall in the third-place match to Army's Bennett Paulson by an 8-0 major decision.
 
Jacob Conrad picked up three wins on the day at 157 pounds.  After falling by a 15-0 tech fall to Army's Luke Weiland in the opening round, Conrad rattled off three straight wins, pinning Virginia Tech's Daniel Mancini in 2:36 and Maryland's Garrett Fisk in 4:48, and also defeating Rider's Michael Wilson by a 9-7 decision.  Conrad's day would end with a 14-3 major decision loss to Ethan Kartsen of American.
 
Also earning multiple wins on the day for the Runnin' Bulldogs were Brandon Bright at 141 pounds, Jha'Quan Anderson at 184 pounds, and Gabriel Pickett at 285 pounds.
 
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Wednesday, December 18, hosting Franklin and Marshall in the first home match of the season.  Action is slated to begin at 1:30 pm inside Paul Porter Arena, with live coverage on ESPN+.
