BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb earned three wins on the evening, but would fall by a 31-11 team score to visiting Chattanooga in Southern Conference action on Friday evening inside Paul Porter Arena.
 
Chattanooga (5-5, 3-0 SoCon) took the first three decisions of the night, at 141, 149, and 157 pounds, to put Gardner-Webb (2-8, 0-2 SoCon) in an early 12-0 hole.
 
Tyler Marinelli put the 'Dogs on the board at 165 pounds, earning a dominant 16-1 tech fall over Drew Nicholson.
 
UTC would take the following two decisions at 174 and 184 pounds, before Anthony Perrine would claim a narrow 5-4 decision over Rodney Jones at 197 pounds.
 
Chattanooga would win by pin at 285 pounds and by forfeit at 125 pounds to seal the overall dual win.
 
GWU would close out the night on a high note, as Brandon Bright earned a tight 3-2 decision over Jake Huffine at 133 pounds in the final bout of the night.
 
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Tuesday evening, hitting the road to face Campbell at 6:00 pm in Buies Creek, N.C.
