Runnin’ Bulldogs Off to Strong Start at 2019 CCSA Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – One first-place finish and one new school record highlights Gardner-Webb's performance in the opening day of the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimming and Diving Championships, taking place at Liberty University's Liberty Natatorium.
After the first day of action, the men's team ranks fifth, while the women's team sits seventh overall.
Incarnate Word leads the early men's standings, while Liberty currently tops the women's field.
The team of Brady Fields, Jordan Mintz, Seggio Bernardina, and Zach Dingfield claimed the men's 200-yard medley relay title, timing in at 1:28.01.
In the men's 800-meter freestyle relay, the team of Tim Bennett, Zach Dingfield, Chase Mattingly, and Peter Wakeley placed third, timing in at 6:39.48, setting a new school record.
The grouping of Kate Arcenaux, Carol Zangla, Morgan VanderShaaf, and Jessi Snover finished fourth in the women's 800-meter freestyle relay with a time of 7:33.37
The women's 200-meter meter medley relay team of Charity Bennett, Whitney Peters, Tessa Walsh, and Audrey Robinson clocked in at 1:44.31 to take home a seventh-place finish.
The 2019 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships continue tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10:00 am, and the finals taking place at 6:00 pm at the Liberty Natatorium.
