Runnin’ Bulldogs Take Three Events in Day Three of 2019 CCSA Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Three first-place finishes, and two additional podium fnishes highlighted Gardner-Webb's performance in the third day of the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimming and Diving Championships, taking place at Liberty University's Liberty Natatorium.
 
After three days of action, the men's team ranks fourth overall, while the women's team sits in eighth spot.
 
Tim Bennett took home the men's 100-yard butterfly crown, timing in at 48.00 seconds.  John O'Connell placed ninth with a time of 50.35 seconds, while Brendan Teeters placed 17th at 51.91 seconds.
 
Bennett also claimed the 100-yard backstroke title with a time of 49.01 seconds.  John O'Connell finished ninth at 51.01 seconds.
 
Jordan Mintz placed first in the men's 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 54.70 seconds.  Brendan Teeters placed 16th with a time of 58.80 seconds.
 
The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Tim Bennett, Jordan Mintz, John O'Connell, and Drew Mintz finished second with a time of 3:17.74 to earn a podium fnish.
 
In the men's 400-yard individual medley, Chase Mattingly earned All-Conference honors with a third-place result, timing in at 3:58.02.  Christian Jann finished seventh, clocking in at 4:01.51.
 
Mary Traylor finished fifth in the women's 400-yard individual medley, touching the wall at 4:24.28, followed by Spencer Lucas in sixth at 4:26.57.  Carol Zangla placed 13th at 4:32.60.
 
In the men's 200-yard freestyle, Drew Mintz finished sixth with a time of 1:41.36.  Peter Wakeley finished eighth at 1:42.64, and Joshua Clarke finished 16th with a time of 1:42.41.
 
The women's 400-yard medley relay team of Spencer Lucas, Anna Banick, Tessa Walsh, and Blake Broullire placed seventh, timing in at 3:51.63.
 
Anna Banick finished tenth in the women's 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:04.78.  Laura Wakeley finished 22nd at 1:08.42.
 
In the women's 100-yard butterfly, Tessa Walsh led GWU, placing tenth with a time of 55.13 seconds.  Jennifer Jackson finished 24th at 58.51 seconds.
 
Kate Arceneaux was Gardner-Webb's top performer in the women's 200-yard freestyle, timing in at 1:54.59 to place 19thBlake Broullire finished 27th overall with a time of 1:56.75.
 
Charity Bennett finished 22nd in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.02 seconds.  Laura Wakeley finished 24th, timing in at 59.41 seconds.
 
The 2019 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships wrap up tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10:00 am, and the finals taking place at 6:00 pm at the Liberty Natatorium.
