Women's Tennis Defeats Limestone, 4-1, on Tuesday

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team played its second match in as many days and avenged a Monday loss with a 4-1 win against the Limestone College Saints on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardner-Webb (8-7 overall) began the day by winning the doubles point. Miljana Ristic and Daniela Naupari were victorious in the No. 1 position, 6-3, and Adrienne Vesely and Milica Panic clinched the point for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a 6-1 win at No. 3.

As singles play began, Limestone (7-6 overall) tied the contest as the Saints' Alexandra Dolfi won at No. 4 when Manon Delsol was forced to retire despite winning set one, 6-3.

Vesely put Gardner-Webb with a dominant win in the No. 5 position for her 11th win of the year. She defeated Ruby Kubac and allowed her to win just one game, which came in the second set.

Milica Panic's 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 6 position put Gardner-Webb in front, 3-1, and Mayumi Saguchi clinched the match for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Playing at No. 4, Saguchi defeated Limestone's Felicitas Picinini in two sets, 6-1, 6-4 to give the Runnin' Bulldogs their eighth win of the year.

After playing two matches in two days, Gardner-Webb will now be idle until Saturday when Big South play resumes. The 'Dogs will travel to Radford, Virginia for a 1 p.m. contest with the Radford Highlanders.
