Women's Golf Finishes Third At 2019 Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate

MORGANTON, N.C. – Linnea Hofgren finished in a tie for second individually to lead Gardner-Webb women's golf to a third-place team finish at the 2019 Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate tournament.
The Runnin' Bulldogs shot a 310 team score on Monday, shaving three strokes off their first round score to finish only one stroke behind Longwood in the final team standings. GWU edged host Appalachian State by two strokes.
The tournament was played on the 6,161-yard Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club course (Par 72).
Hofgren shot a first-round score of 74 to lead the way on Sunday, then followed with a 73 on Monday to remain tied for second with Wofford's Becca Earl. The freshman finished just three strokes off the tournament lead.
Linsday Koppel (77-81-158) finished in a tie for 21st and Allison Chandler (83-77-160) tied for 25th over the 36-hole tournament.
Morgan Laird (79-82-161) was close behind in a tie for 29th and Ellis Harvie rounded out Gardner-Webb's group (92-79-171) in a tie for 44th.
Up next for the Runnin' Bulldogs is the 2019 Big South Conference Championship, scheduled for April 11-14, in Ninety Six, S.C.
