Gardner-Webb Men's Basketball Earns NCAA Public Recognition For APR Success

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb men's basketball received more good news Wednesday, earning an NCAA Public Recognition Award for multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores that rate in the top-10 percent nationally in the sport.

The NCAA made the announcement Wednesday, May 1, with the latest honors based on APR scores covered during the four-year period beginning in 2014-2015 and ending in 2017-2018.

Head Coach Tim Craft's program was one of 35 nationally among Division I men's basketball programs to be recognized on Wednesday.

The Runnin' Bulldogs were one of only one of 13 NCAA men's basketball programs to make earn the NCAA Public Recognition Award this week that also participated in the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Gardner-Webb posted a 23-12 record, won its first Big South Conference championship and gave eventual national champion Virginia a scare in its NCAA Tournament opener in Columbia, S.C.

The NCAA will release all APR scores for Division I teams on May 8.
