CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Gardner-Webb picked up wins at 165 and 141 pounds, but Appalachian State captured wins in the other eight bouts to take a 34-5 win over the Runnin' Bulldogs Sunday afternoon in Southern Conference wrestling action.
 
Gardner-Webb (1-5, 0-2 SoCon) fell behind to Chattanooga (4-6, 2-0 SoCon) early with a forfeit at 149 pounds and a decision at 157 pounds giving UTC a 9-0 lead.
 
GWU answered at 165 pounds as RJ Mosley earned a 4-2 decision over Andrew Nicholson to improve to 5-1 overall in dual matches this season.
 
The Mocs took the following six matchups to seal the overall team win.
 
Action wrapped up at 141 pounds, where Brandon Bright prevailed with a 7-5 decision over Aidan Murphy to give GWU its second win of the day.
 
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Thursday, January 30, hosting The Citadel at 7:00 pm.
