AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn used a 14-0 run midway through the first quarter Tuesday evening to spark a 97-61 win over Gardner-Webb inside Auburn Arena.
The Tigers (3-0) shot at a blistering 53.4 percent clip on the night, aided by 62 points in the paint, including 25 made layups.
Gardner-Webb (0-2) had a trio of players score in double digits, led by sophomore
Ki'Ari Cain with 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Freshman
Emma Capps added 12 points off the bench, while reigning Big South Conference Freshman of the Week
Alasia Smith scored 10 points on the night.
The Runnin' Bulldogs shot at a 29.4 percent (20-of-68) rate and was 9-of-37 (24.3 percent) from long distance.
Auburn was led by Unique Thompson with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Honesty Scott-Grayson and Keya Patton each followed with 14 points, while Jala Jordan and Aicha Coulibaly added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Turnovers plagued the 'Dogs, who had 24 miscues that lead to 25 points for Auburn. The Tigers committed 11 turnovers that led to 14 points for GWU.
Gardner-Webb will remain on the road for its next bout on Friday, December 4 at Richmond. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 pm with live coverage on ESPN+.
