NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gardner-Webb women's basketball closed out non-conference play for the 2020-21 season Sunday afternoon, dropping a 97-58 decision at Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon inside Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tenn.
Gardner-Webb (1-6) made just 18-of-65 (27.7 percent) of its attempts on the afternoon, while Vanderbilt (4-1) shot at a 52.0 percent clip (39-of-75), including 11 made three-pointers. The Runnin' Bulldogs were outpaced on the boards by a 55-34 margin and points in the paint, 50-20.
Jhessyka Williams was the lone Runnin' Bulldog to reach double digits in scoring, achieving a season-best 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in 22 minutes of action from the bench.
Lyrissa Deans and
Alexis Hueston each followed with six points on the afternoon.
The Commodores had five scorers in double figures, led by Brylee Bartram, who had 23 points in 26 minutes off of the bench, going 7-of-14 from the field, all from long distance. Koi Love followed with 19 points, followed by Chelse Hall with 15, Enna Pehadzic with 13 and Yaubryon Chambers with 10.
Gardner-Webb returns home for its next contest, hosting Hampton on Wednesday, December 30, the first game of a back-to-back Big South Conference series. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 pm inside Paul Porter Arena with live coverage on ESPN+ (WatchESPN.com / ESPN App).
