BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon in tournament play at Brinkley Softball Stadium, losing to Valparaiso (7-3) and Colgate (4-0).
GAME ONE (Valparaiso 7, Gardner-Webb 3)
• Valpo scored a pair of runs in the first, third and fourth innings, rapping out 10 hits in the win.
• After the Crusaders took an early 2-0 lead, Gardner-Webb responded with a run in the second to pull closer.
• Valpo led 4-1 after the top of the third, but Gardner-Webb rallied with two runs to trim the lead back to one.
• The visiting team scored the final three runs of the game to pull away.
• Gardner-Webb had seven different players with base hits, including doubles for
Autumn Owen and
Andrea Lyons.

Laken Myers took the loss, working 0.1 inning and allowing two runs on two hits before exiting the game.
GAME TWO (Colgate 4, Gardner-Webb 0)
• Colgate's Bailey Misken tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering eight hits and allowing two walks (six strikeouts).
• The visitors scored two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to break open a scoreless game.

Brooke Perry took the loss, despite hurling 7.0 strong innings with eight strikeouts.

Autumn Owen went 2-for-2 at the plate for Gardner-Webb to lead an eight-hit effort offensively.

Lauren Adam also had hits for the 'Dogs.
Gardner-Webb is back in action Saturday, playing Robert Morris (2 pm) and Valparaiso (4 pm).
