ATLANTA – Gardner-Webb men's basketball signee Jamaine Mann was named first-team Class 5A All-State on Friday by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and was also tabbed as the Southside Metro Player of the Year by the same newspaper.
Mann, a 6-foot-6 forward who signed with Gardner-Webb in November, led Dutchtown (Ga.) High to a Class 5A State Championship this past season – averaging 17.4 points per game.
He helped the squad to a 28-4 record and scored 20 points to go with 12 rebounds in the state title game win over Cedar Shoals High.
Originally from New York, N.Y., Mann is the younger brother of former University of Georgia standout Charles Mann. He also earned All-State honors from the Georgia Coaches' Association in 2020.
Mann is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and 247Sports.com, and is rated as the No. 64 shooting guard prospect nationally by 247Sports. He was rated as a top-100 junior heading into the 2018-2019 campaign, moving as high as No. 79 overall on that list.
As a junior at Starrs Mill (Ga.) High, Mann pumped in 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting an efficient 53 percent from the field.
Gardner-Webb also signed standout point guard Jordan Sears in November from Mainland (Fla.) High in Daytona Beach. Sears was an All-State selection as a junior in 2019, and is a strong candidate to repeat those honors after boosting his averages as a senior.
