BOONE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb had four men earn fourth-place finishes at the 2020 Southern Conference Wrestling Championship on Sunday at the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, N.C.
 
RJ Mosley and Samuel Mora each won their opening bouts before both fell in the semifinals at their respective weight classes, while Brandon Bright and Roderick Davis both battled through the consolation rounds to the third-place matches.
 
At 165-pounds, Mosley opened the day with a 3-0 decision over VMI's Jon Hoover before dropping a narrow 3-2 decision to Appalachian State's William Formato in the semifinal round.  In the consolation rounds, Mosley picked up a 4-2 decision over Chattanooga's Andrew Nicholson but would drop a 11-2 major decision to Dajon Casto of The Citadel in the third-place bout.
 
Mora earned a 10-6 decision over Presbyterian's Austin Sith in the opening round at 184 pounds, but would be pinned by Campbell's Andrew Morgan in the semifinals.  In the consolation rounds, Mora picked up a 6-5 decision over Julian Gorring of Appalachian State, but would fall in the third-place matchup by a 12-4 major decision to Davidson's Gavin Henry.
 
At the 141-pound weight class, Bright was pinned by Chattanooga's Mason Wallace, but he would string together a pair of wins in the consolation rounds.  Bright earned an 8-2 decision over Noah Roulo of VMI and a 9-5 decision over The Citadel's Jacob Dado, yet in the third-place match, he would fall by a 4-2 decision to Bradley Irwin of Appalachian State.
 
Davis dropped his opening round bout at 197 pounds to Appalachian State's Demazio Samuel, a 3-0 decision, but followed by pinning VMI's Zach Brown in 2:41 in the consolation bracket to advance to the third-place match.  There, he was edged out by Campbell's Chris Kober by a 4-3 decision.
 
Also earning a win on the day was Will Edmiston at 133 pounds, who earned a 12-2 major decision over Cliff Conway of VMI in the consolation rounds.
