GARDNER-WEBB QUICK LOOK
* Gardner-Webb has seen nine games postponed and two cancelled since November 25. Two of the games – against Campbell
– were rescheduled twice. GWU is still awaiting rescheduled dates with Radford and Presbyterian.
* Gardner-Webb has played at least 10 men in each of its 11 games, by design, as the coaching staff attempts to build depth
and confidence heading into the meat of Big South Conference play.
*
Tim Craft is the third coach in Gardner-Webb history to reach 100 career wins in six seasons. The Tallahassee, Fla., native
joined Hall of Famers Eddie Holbrook (141) and Jim Wiles (103) on that list when GWU rallied for an 87-74 overtime win
against Hampton on January 19, 2019 in Paul Porter Arena.
* Under Craft, the Runnin' Bulldogs have not endured a losing season in Big South Conference play in his seven seasons. Craft
is 72-52 in the Big South, reaching at least 10 wins in six of his seven seasons so far. Gardner-Webb is off to a 2-4 start for the
third consecutive season in Big South play.
* Gardner-Webb is expected to be without the services of leading scorer
Lance Terry this week, although the College Park,
Ga., native is getting closer to a return. He ranks fifth in the Big South in scoring and leads the circuit in both free throw and
three-point percentage. He is coming off of back-to-back scoring outings that resulted in career highs vs. Florida State (23)
and Hampton (26).
* Gardner-Webb freshman wing
Anthony Selden's windmill dunk early in the second half at Hampton on New Year's Eve wound
up as the No. 2 play on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 – the show's 39th season and first episode of 2021. Selden is the second
member of his family – joining former Kansas star and older brother Wayne Selden – to have a dunk appear on #SCTop10.
* All-Big South guard
Jaheam Cornwall is only eight points shy of reaching the 1,000-point mark for his career in Boiling
Springs. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native has 992 points, 319 rebounds, 310 assists and 188 made three-point baskets in 105 career
games played (57 starts). He is a 41.4 percent shooter for his career from three-point range and has made 138-of-184 career
free throws (75.0 percent).
* Gardner-Webb is shooting 74.1 percent from free throw line as a team in Big South Conference games this season.
* Head coach
Tim Craft and his staff have a class of nine newcomers on board for the 2020-2021 season, the largest class
assembled during his time in charge at Gardner-Webb. Four of the newcomers are true freshmen, three more are redshirt
freshmen who sat out last season and two are junior college transfers. One of the true freshmen,
Tyrone Simos-Primerano
didn't arrive on campus until late December from Australia due to COVID-19 international travel restrictions.
* Five of Gardner-Webb's newcomers this season have scored in double figures at least once so far.
*
Kareem Reid, a preseason All-Big South choice down low, made 6-of-7 shots to tie a career-high with 13 points in the New
Year's Eve 80-69 win at Hampton. The Queens, N.Y., native is averaging 12.0 points per game in Gardner-Webb's conference
wins this season to date. Reid was a four-star recruit and top-75 national prospect as a rising junior at Putnam Science (Conn.)
Academy.
* Forward
Ludovic Dufeal has swatted away 107 shots in 61 career games played at Gardner-Webb. He set a new Division I Era
mark last season with 71 blocks and is averaging 2.0 blocks per game through 11 games played this season.
