
Swimming Opens Season With Road Meet Against South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb swim team opened their 2021-22 season on the road against the University of South Carolina inside the Carolina Natatorium.
In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the squad of Brady Fields, Jonathan Frye, Tim Bennett, Seggio Bernardina placed second with a time of 1:32.35.
Adrianna Barone took fifth in the women's 1,000-yard free, finishing at the wall with a time of 11:03.70, with teammate Ellie Eckert taking sixth with a time of 11:05.32.
As for the men's 1,000-yard free, Garrett Despres placed fourth, finishing with a time of 9:58.65. Teammate Brady Vann followed in fifth place with a time of 10:02.87.
Logan Cornelison finished in fourth place in the men's 200-yard free, touching the wall with time of 1:41.94.
In the men's 100-yard back, Brady Fields took fourth with a time of 51.77 at the wall, and Tim Bennett placed fifth by clocking in a time of 52.02 at the finish.
Abby Surley placed sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke by finishing with a time of 1:07.55.
As for the men's 100-yard breaststroke, Jonathan Frye took second by finishing at the wall with a time of 58.02 seconds.
Clara Schlimper placed sixth in the women's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.69.
In the men's 200-yard fly, Cullen Fields took home second place with a time of 1:55.15 at the wall, teammate Colby Childress placed fifth by clocking a time of 1:58.46.
Mariana Valles placed sixth in the women's 50-yard free, finishing at the wall with a time of 25.44 seconds.
As for the men's 50 yard free, Brady Fields took fifth place with a time of 21.6.1 seconds.
In the women's 100-yard free, Alyssa Church placed sixth with a time of 54.38 at the wall.
Logan Cornelison placed sixth in the men's 100 yard free with a time of 46.89 at the finish.
As for the Women's 200-yard back, Delaney Willette took sixth with a time of 2:11.74.
Landon Clark placed third in the men's 200-yard backstroke by hitting the wall with a time of 1:54.75 at the finish, teammate Christian Jann placed fifth with a time of 1:56.48.
In the women's 200-yard breaststroke, Abby Surley took seconds with a time of 2:26.36, Anna Yeater placed third with a time of 2:27.11, and Sydney Hall placed fourth with a time of 2:33.58.
As for the men's 200-yard breaststroke, Jonathan Frye placed second with a time of 2:08.51 at the finish, Ryan Taylor followed in third with a time of 2:10.98, and Austin Wheeler placed fourth with a time of 2:12.77.
Clara Schlimper took second place in the women's 500-yard free with a time of 5:20.39, Emma Maust followed in third with a time of 5:20.39, and Ellie Eckert placed fourth with a time of 5:27.09.
In the men's 500-yard free, Garrett Despres took second place with a time of 4:52.02, Theo Drescher followed in third with a time of 4:52.41, and Brady Vann followed in fourth with a time of 4:53.69 at the finish.
Paris Binard took second in the women's 100-yard fly with a time of 1:00.58, teammates Jasmine Kremer and Gabrelle Doss followed in third and fourth, respectively.
As for the men's 100-yard fly Tim Bennett placed second with a time of 50.94 seconds, Cullen Fields followed in third with a time of 51.65, and Seggio Bernardina placed fourth with a time of 53.04 seconds at the finish.
Abby Surley placed second in the women's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.23, Anna Yeater took third with a time of 2:15.56, and Adrianna Barone placed fourth with a time of 2:19.73.
In the men's 200-yard individual medley, Christian Jann took second place with a time of 1:58.08 at the finish.
The squad of Emma Gelatt, Eliza Gunson, Delaney Willette, and Paris Binard took second in the women's 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:41.33.
As for the men's 200-yard free relay, the squad of Drew Mintz, Brady Fields, Zuri Ramsey, and Seggio Bernardina took second place with a time of 1:25.16 at the finish.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action next week as the women take on UNC Asheville and Bellarmine on Friday, October 15th, and the men take on Bellarmine on Saturday, October 16th. Both meets will bet at home inside Boost Pool.
