BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team took on conference opponent Campbell University at Eakes Athletic Complex on Wednesday night. The Runnin' Bulldogs fell 7-1 to the Camels.
Amidst Campbells seven goals throughout the match, GWU senior defender
Jaasiel Forde found the back of the net early in the eighth minute of the game. Tonight's goal was Jaasiel's second career goal, coming a little over two years after the defenders first for the Red and Black, which occurred during the 2019 season.
The Camels paced the match with 17 shots, the Runnin' Bulldogs took just four.
Maddie Turlington recorded two shots, while teammates
Anna Fish and Forde each recorded a single shot.
Campbell led the match in corner kick opportunities with 13, Gardner-Webb took just three corners. Leading the game, GWU fouled 11 times, while CU had just seven fouls.
Katelyn Kellogg and
Abby Atchley each spent some time between the posts for the 'Dogs, combined they recorded two saves and seven goals against.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Saturday, October 16
th, as it faces High Point under the lights at Greene-Harbison Stadium. The game is slated to start at 7 pm and will stream on ESPN+. Prior to the start of the game, a special ceremony will be held to celebrate the senior class.
