ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia used a 19-0 lead in the first quarter on Thursday evening to take a 97-45 win over Gardner-Webb inside Stegeman Coliseum.
UGA (1-0) shot 25.9 percent from the floor, with 60 points in the paint, including 23 second chance points.
Gardner-Webb's (0-2) offensive front was led by senior
Jhessyka Williams, she was the only player to score double digits, as she shot 5-for-10 and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Junior
Sarah Matthews made her debut for the Red and Black tonight and shot 100 percent (2-for-2).
The Runnin' Bulldogs shot 25.9 percent (15-for-58) in field goal range and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
Georgia was led by Jenna Staiti with 16 total points and 11 rebounds. Followed by Que Morrison who scored 15 points and managed to catch four rebounds.
Gardner-Webb will wrap up its three-game road swing on Monday night, traveling to East Carolina University. Opening tip is set for 6:00 pm and will stream on ESPN+.
