BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team took on Winthrop University at Greene-Harbison Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Runnin' Bulldogs emerged victorious on their senior night, winning the matchup in overtime over the Eagles, 5-4.

Tony Setzer. "We attacked the ball the way we needed to and were able to find the net in key situations. I give a lot of credit to
Ryan Madondo, he stepped up and made big plays for us to get the win over Winthrop."
Owen Zaldivar opened up the scoring for the 'Dogs at the 13:12 mark, scoring off of a pass from
Odal Brown.
For the remainder of the match Madondo led the attack for the Runnin' Bulldogs, scoring the following four goals in the match. Madondo's fourth goal just 1:30 into overtime sealed the win for GWU, the final goal of the night came off of a pass from
Samuel Catherall.
Tonight's win marks the 'Dogs third win of the season and at home. The five goals scored in the matchup were the most goals scored in a game all season, and their second overtime win of the season as well.
Gardner-Webb paced the night in shots with 17, Winthrop took just eight throughout the game. The 'Dogs led in corners with 13, while the Eagles only had four opportunities. Fifteen fouls were drawn throughout the night, GWU had eight and WU had just one less.
