BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Returning home following a brief one-game road trip to East Carolina, Gardner-Webb will look to improve on its unblemished 4-0 record at home when the Runnin' Bulldogs welcome Wofford to Paul Porter Arena for a nonconference tilt this Wednesday, December 8 at 7 p.m.
Gardner-Webb has won six consecutive games inside Paul Porter Arena dating back to 2020-21, using the energy from its home crowd to fuel big home wins of 62, 12, 28 and 25 points this season. To enhance an already formidable home-court advantage for the Runnin' Bulldogs,
all fans in attendance are asked to arrive dressed in white to
accompany the "WHITE OUT" theme inside Paul Porter Arena. The first 60 students in attendance will also be treated with a donut at the door.
Gardner-Webb and Wofford enter Wednesday's contest having faced off a total of 10 times in the past with each team picking up five wins apiece. The Terriers have won the last three in a row, however, most recently downing the Runnin' Bulldogs by final score of 81-77 in Spartanburg, S.C. on December 7, 2019. The history between the two teams dates back all the way to 1970, when the 'Dogs took down Wofford, 116-85.
Gardner-Webb sports a 4-4 record through eight games this season, while Wofford checks in at 6-3 prior to the midweek showdown in Boiling Springs.

BULLDOG BITES
LAST TIME OUT: Gardner-Webb led by as many as nine points in the first half and never trailed for the first 23:07 after taking a 28-24 lead into the locker room, but East Carolina to a 10-point advantage midway through the second half and held on in the closing minutes for a 62-52 win inside Minges Coliseum.
Lance Terry's 3-pointer with 3:04 remaining to tie the game spun in and out, and ECU ended the game on a 10-3 run to drop GWU to 0-4 on the road.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: The Runnin' Bulldogs have thrived at home this season, outscoring opponents 360-233 while sporting an unblemished 4-0 record inside Paul Porter Arena. In four home games, Gardner-Webb has combined to shoot 55.6% from the field while limiting opponents to a 35.4% clip overall and 27.6% from 3-point range. Dating back to last season, GWU has now won six-straight home games.
MASTER OF EFFICIENCY: Kareem Reid, who has now finished perfect from the field in 4 games this season, enters Wednesday ranked 2nd in NCAA Division I shooting 75.4% from the field (46-of-61). He remains GWU's second-leading scorer at 13.1 PPG trailing only
D'Maurian Williams (14.5 PPG). Reid, who entered the season with a single-game career-high of 13 points, has already eclipsed that total in 3 games this season (16 vs. No. 16 Arkansas, 14 vs. No. 7 Duke, 20 vs. Carver) while finishing in double figures in 6 games.
MASTER OF EFFICIENCY (CONT.): Kareem Reid has now made 31 of his last 35 shots during a stretch from the 2nd half at No. 7 Duke (Nov. 16) to GWU's last game at ECU (Dec. 14). Reid made 20-straight shots at one point and went without a miss in 3-of-4 games. He is currently pacing ahead of the Big South single-season record of 69.6%, set by UNC Asheville's Kenny George in 2007-08
100 BLOCK CLUB: With 4 blocks vs. North Carolina Central on Nov. 29,
Kareem Reid became sixth Runnin' Bulldog to eclipse 100 career blocks since Gardner-Webb's move to Division I in 2002-03. Reid also became the 46th player in Big South Conference history to eclipse 100 career blocks. He currently ranks 36th in the nation at 2.25 blocks per game after registering at least one block in all 8 games and posting at least two blocks all but twice.
BLOCK PARTY: Since the return of
Ludovic Dufeal from injury 3 games ago, the frontcourt duo of he and
Kareem Reid have been elite. The two rim protectors have combined for 15 blocks over the past 3 games (Reid – 8; Dufeal – 7) to boost GWU to 39th in the nation at 5.1 blocked shots per game. Since '02-'03, Dufeal ranks 2nd of all Gardner-Webb players with 135 blocks, while Reid checks in 5th with 102. However, the two of them hold the two top spots in blocks per game, with Dufeal ranked 1st (1.7/game) followed by Reid in 2nd (1.5/game).
BENCH SPARK: Fresh point guard
Julien Soumaoro has provided Gardner-Webb with a needed spark offensively off the bench this season. Soumaoro, GWU's 5th-highest scorer at 7.8 points per game, has shot a blistering 53.8% from downtown (14-of-26) on the year and has connected on 3 triples apiece in both the last two contests.

D'Maurian Williams currently leads the Big South at 5.62 defensive rebounds per game, while
Zion Williams checks in 2nd in the Big South in offensive rebounds at 2.75 per game, a mark that ranks #101 in the country. u

Ludovic Dufeal has made an immediate impact for Gardner-Webb, helping spur wins of 28 and 25 in his first two outings. Dufeal has combined to go +36 in just under 55 minutes of action in his three appearances so far this season.
ECLIPSING 20: After setting a new career-high with 21 points in the opener at UNLV,
D'Maurian Williams erupted for 27 points and 9 rebounds a 12-point win vs. Columbia International, and followed that up with 25 points with 6 triples vs Western Carolina. Williams has eclipsed 20 points in 3-of-8 games in 2021-2022.
