Women's Golf Opens Season With Eight-Place Finish At Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. – Gardner-Webb carded its best round of the tournament Monday, shooting a 310, to move into eighth place at the 2021 Strutter Gus Invitational at Georgia Southern.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished just six strokes behind seventh-place Georgia State in the final team standings. The event was played on the Georgia Southern University Golf Course, with very wet and windy conditions on Monday.
Seminole State College captured the team title, edging host Georgia Southern by one stroke.
Gardner-Webb was led by newcomer Dominika Burdova (80-79-75), who finished 12th in her debut with the Runnin' Bulldogs and got better with each round.
Linnea Hofgren (84-75-76) finished 17th individually and veteran Allison Chandler (79-81-77) just missed the top-25. Lindsay Koppel (85-80-83) finished 52nd and Gillian O'Brien finished 61st.
Gardner-Webb will play in the 2021 Bright's Creek Retreat next weekend in Mill Spring, N.C.
