BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Ryan Machado-Jones scored the lone goal for the Highlanders, defeating the Runnin' Bulldogs on their home turf at Greene-Harbison Stadium on Sunday night.
Gardner-Webb had a total of four shots in the match, two on goal, splitting them evenly between the halves.
In the first half, the senior transfer
Ryan Madondo had a duo of shots. Madondo's first shot was indeed on goal for GWU, which came just before the ten-minute mark, but was saved by Radford Goalkeeper Joseba Incera. Madondo's second shot of the day came in the 24
th minute of play, and flew high above the goal.
Sebastian Reventlow accounted for Gardner-Webb's third shot of the day. Coming in the 58
th minute, it was the second save of the day for Radford's Incera.
The Runnin' Bulldogs played with a lot of speed toward the end of the match, but
Kharrel Medza failed to convert the shot he took in the 89
th minute, allowing Radford to take home their first win this season.
Gardner-Webb Men's Soccer will return to action on Wednesday, March 3
rd as they take on Furman at Greene-Harbison Stadium. The match is slated to start under the lights at 6:00 PM.
