BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team dropped all three sets to visiting UNC Asheville in Big South Conference play inside Paul Porter Arena Sunday afternoon.
Gardner-Webb (2-6, 2-6 Big South) lost each set to UNC Asheville (2-4, 2-4 Big South) by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-20.
The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 32 kills on the day in 122 attempts with 25 attack errors for a .057 hitting percentage. Asheville had 34 kills on 108 swings with 21 attack errors, posting a .102 attacking percentage.
Audrey Gun led the GWU attack with 8 smashes on 18 swings, followed by
Kylee Garrison with seven kills on 33 attempts and
Lauryn Rocassin with six kills on 18 swings.
Tori Weatherley led the 'Dogs with 21 assists.
Mikah McIntosh had a team-high 12 digs, while
Hannah Donaldson,
Delaney McCullough and
Madison Deslatte each had five blocks.
UNC Asheville was led on the attack by Molly Hackett with 10 kills on 26 swings, while Grace Volt dished out a match-high 30 assists.
Kasey West led UNCA with 14 digs, while Volt also led her team with five total blocks.
Gardner-Webb hits the road for its next conference series, taking on Winthrop on Thursday, March 4 and Friday, March 5 in Rock Hill, S.C.
