ROCK HILL, S.C. – Gardner-Webb fell in straight sets in midday Big South Conference volleyball action at Winthrop Thursday afternoon inside the Winthrop Coliseum.
 
Gardner-Webb (2-7, 2-7 Big South) dropped all three sets to Winthrop (4-3, 4-3 Big South) by scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-13.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 30 kills on 118 attacks throughout the contest, attacking at a .034 clip.  The Eagles collected 34 kills on 94 swings with a .206 hitting percentage.
 
Kylee Garrison paced the GWU attack with eight smashes on 27 attempts for a .148 hitting percentage.  Lauryn Rocassin dished out a team-high 10 assists on the day.
 
Mikah McIntosh led the 'Dogs with 17 digs, while Delaney McCullough led the team on the block with four total blocks.
 
Winthrop's attack was led by Morgan Bossler with 12 kills on 20 swings, hitting at a .500 rate.  Jana Owens and Isabel Schaefbauer each had 13 kills.
 
Leah Metzger led the Eagles on the day with 14 digs, while Bossler also led her team with seven total blocks.
 
Both teams face off again tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm inside the Winthrop Coliseum.
