Gardner-Webb Men's Golfs Ties For Seventh At 2021 Raines Development Intercollegiate

FLORENCE, S.C. – Gardner-Webb men's golf opened the 2021 spring season with a tie for seventh at the Raines Development Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday.
The 10-team event was played from the championship tees at the 7,062-yard (par 72) Country Club of South Carolina.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished in a tie with Wofford after firing a team score of 302 over the final 18 holes on Sunday.
Veteran Jake Scruggs led the way, finishing in a tie for 14th individually. Scruggs moved into fourth place after a busy Saturday, carding back-to-back rounds of 69 to sit in contention after 36 holes. He finished in the top-20 despite a challenging Sunday round.
Scruggs shot an average of 3.83 strokes on Par 4 holes over the weekend, finishing at minus-5 on those holes – which was good for second among all participants. He also sank 12 birdie putts.
Jules Bondi shot a team-low score of 68 on Sunday to move into a tie for 34th. Bondi shot rounds of 74 and 78 to open play on Saturday. Zack Byers (73-69-80-222) tied for 41st and Max White (71-74-78-223) tied for 46th. Jake Kehoe and Miles Albright rounded out the competitors for Gardner-Webb. Kehoe had one of 10 eagles in the entire tournament.
Middle Tennessee State finished 30-under par to capture the team title by one stroke over Kennesaw State.
Gardner-Webb will be back in South Carolina for its next event, traveling to Hilton Head Island for the 2021 Wexford Intercollegiate on February 22-23.
