Women’s Soccer Drops Midweek Matchup to High Point

High Point, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (2-3-0, 2-1-0) were unable to take home a road win over the High Point Panthers (5-0-0, 4-0-0), as the team fell to the Panthers, 6-2, Wednesday night.
 
Salome Prat and Juliette Vidal each had two goals for the Panthers tonight, helping to seal the win over GWU. Prat scored the first and last goals of the evening, while Vidal scored off of two back-to-back penalty kicks at the 27:12 and 41:44 marks, respectively. 
 
41 total shots were taken during the night, High Point paced with 33 (12 on goal), while Gardner-Webb had just 8 shots total (4 on goal).
 
Aubrie Jackson, Jada Newton each had two shots against the Panthers tonight, Kellan Culver had a pair off of the bench as well. Both of Newton's shots were on goal, while Jackson and Culver had just one apiece on goal.
 
Jada Newton, the Big South Offensive Player of the Week, scored the only goal of the night for GWU. Newton's goal came at the 65:35 mark in the matchup, and marks her fourth goal of the season. 
 
Paula Suarez Is and Katelyn Kellogg evenly split the 90:00 minutes between the posts for GWU, splitting the six goals against as well. Of the six saves however, Suarez had five, with Kellogg having just one. 
 
This Sunday Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer returns to Greene-Harbison Stadium to take Radford on March 14th at 7:00 PM. The matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+.
