Women’s Soccer Ties to Radford

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – On Sunday night Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer faced off against Big South Conference opponent Radford at Greene-Harbison Stadium. The match went into double overtime but ended in a 0-0 draw.

"A draw may have been a fair result tonight," said Head Coach Mike Varga. "We had a couple chances we needed to do better with and Radford had chances they could have put away."

Radford paced Gardner-Webb with 20 shots in tonight's game, with eight of those being on goal for the Highlanders. The Runnin' Bulldogs took just six shots, with only two of those on goal. GWU failed to take any shots in either of the two overtime periods, but Radford took 4 shots, failing to get any past Kellogg.

The Runnin' Bulldogs did lead the game in fouls, with a grand total of 13, and Radford only having nine on the night.

Katelyn Kellogg had eight saves in-between the posts for Gardner-Webb, which is a season high for her. Topping her seven saves that came in the game against Longwood on February 26th

Commenting on Kellogg's performance tonight Varga said, "Katelyn came up big late to keep it at 0-0, I was very happy with how she played tonight." As Kellogg had a monster save in the 108th minute of double overtime to keep it a tie game. Her big save of the night came off of a shot from Radford's Izzy Armstrong.

Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer will be back in action on Sunday, March 21st. As they travel to Rock Hill to take on Winthrop at 1:00 PM
