BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb (2-2,2-1) Women's Soccer took down Big South Conference opponent Presbyterian College (1-1,1-1) on Saturday night. The final score of the matchup was 1-0, Runnin' Bulldogs.
Tonight's lone goal came from
Jada Newton early in the 14
th minute of match play. The Junior from Woodbridge, Virginia was assisted off of a pass from
Alisha Holcombe. Putting the Runnin' Bulldogs in front and eventually taking home the win.
"I liked our effort tonight," said Head Coach
Mike Varga. "We were able to execute some of the things we focused on in training this past week. PC forced us into mistakes but we were able to get a clean sheet and 3 points which is what we needed tonight."
The Runnin' Bulldogs outshot the Blue Hose in the matchup seven to six, with a trio being on goal on each side of the ball.
Katelyn Kellogg earned the shutout for Gardner-Webb by having three saves in-between the goal-posts. This is Kellogg's first shutout of the season, and her fifth career shutout for the Dogs'.
Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer will be back in action on Wednesday, March 10
th at 7:00 PM, as they take on the High Point Panthers at High Point, N.C.
