BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – On Saturday afternoon The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team hosted The Citadel in their home opener at Greene-Harbison Stadium. The Runnin' Bulldogs took their second loss in a row this season, this time to the Citadel. As the final score was 3-1, Bulldogs.
The Citadel managed to strike first in the 27
th and 36
th minutes of match play to give them a 2-nil lead over the Runnin' Bulldogs.
In an attempt to bounce back, Freshman
Livi Tanzer scored her first career goal for the Red and Black in the 61
st minute of match play off of a pass from teammate
Maddie Turlington. Making it a 2-1 game as they tried to close in on The Citadel.
Exactly ten minutes later in the 71
st minute of play, the Bulldogs of The Citadel found the net to make it a 3-1 game and take home the eventual win at the end of regulation time.
The Citadel paced with 20 total shots, splitting them evenly between the two halves. GWU only took nine shots over the full 90 minutes. Turlington led with five total shots, and had three of those on goal.

Katelyn Kellogg had a total of eight saves in today's matchup, while only allowing three goals against.
Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer will be back in action on Thursday, August 26
th at 7:00 p.m., as they are set for a road trip against UNC Charlotte.
