BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team took on Western Carolina under the lights at Greene-Harbison Stadium Sunday evening, losing 3-0 to the Catamounts.
The Catamounts scored all three goals of tonight's matchup. Valentine Pursey scored in the fifth minute off of an assist from Kirsten Hahn, Hahn then scored in the 10
th minute, and Payton Creed scored the final goal in the 79
th minute of match play, respectively.
Only 16 shots were taken in tonight's game. Western Carolina paced with 12, and Gardner-Webb only took 4.
Livi Tanzer led the 'Dogs with two shots,
Tina El-Amoor had one, and
Abby Clark had one off the bench as well.
WCU led in the corner kick category as well with a total of 8, GWU had half as many.
Western Carolina had 13 fouls called on them tonight, and Gardner-Webb had 9.
There was a plethora of yellow cards issued tonight as well, the Runnin' Bulldogs were issued a total of three, while the Catamounts were only issued two.
Goalkeeper
Katelyn Kellogg spent the full 90 minutes in-between the posts for the Red and Black, and recorded five total saves tonight.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action Friday, September 3
rd, as they head to Alabama to take on Jacksonville State University. Gametime is set for 8 p.m.
