JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team defeated Jacksonville State on Friday evening, earning its first win of the season. The final score was 1-0, Runnin' Bulldogs

Mike Varga "We played on the road a man down for 50 minutes and found a way to get the win. Katelyn came up huge for us and our team defending was extremely good tonight. The effort it took from everyone showed a lot of character and grit."
The eventual game winning goal came in the 42
nd minute of match play, as
Maddie Turlington scored off of an assist from teammate
Jaasiel Forde for the Red and Black.
The Gamecocks paced the matchup in shots with a total of 35, as the Runnin' Bulldogs only took four.
Jacksonville also led in corner kicks tonight with a total of 10, with Gardner-Webb taking two.
Helping to earn the win for the 'Dogs, Goalkeeper
Katelyn Kellogg recorded 12 saves, and did not allow a single goal against her.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action on Sunday, September 5
th as they take on Alabama State in Montgomery at 3 p.m.
